Studies in Embodied Discipleship

Created through Christ. Ordered by His Word. Practiced in ordinary life.

“Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do...” — Joshua 1:8, ESV

Why Created Order?

Created Order begins with Christ, not control. All things were created through Him and for Him, and in Him all things hold together. These documents ask what it looks like for belief, character, covenant, household life, church life, and mission to be brought increasingly into faithful alignment under Him.

The aim is not to create another ministry category. It is to ask whether the Word of God is becoming visible in character, relationships, household life, shepherding, and mission.

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”Colossians 1:16-17 ESV

The biblical foundation

Created through Christ

Colossians 1:16-17

Creation is through Christ, for Christ, and held together in Christ.

Meditate, and do

Joshua 1:8

The Word is spoken, meditated upon, and carefully obeyed.

Wisdom builds the house

Proverbs 3:19-20 · 24:3-4

Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge order creation — and build a house.

Hearing toward doing

James 1:22

Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.

“The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew.”Proverbs 3:19-20 ESV

Read the documents

Three documents. Three distinct arguments. One shared concern: that truth be known, understood, practiced, and made visible. These are not steps to complete in order — read whichever the Lord presses on you.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”James 1:22 ESV

Where obedience becomes visible

Biblical obedience becomes visible in the relationships and stewardship nearest to us: the disciple under Christ; if married, covenant with a spouse; household and children; life among the church; and witness toward neighbor and nations.

This is not a ladder of perfection or a reason to delay mission. It is a reminder that public ministry does not make private obedience secondary.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”Deuteronomy 6:6-9 ESV
Truth is meant to take form.
